Shifting Tides

Shifting Tides
by SArthur

I wonder if he'll notice
When I slip out the door
I'v given my everything
I can't give anymore

All the attention
That I gave to  him
All of this love
And still I didn't win

He's too selfish
Caught up in his life
And I was blinded
Ran headlong into the strife

The struggles of a man
Who will never be content
Not at middle age
Not when his life's been spent

He stayed out of obligation
It's what he was told to do
Stick with your family
A real man will see it through

And so he stays
Another wallflower bows its head
I wonder if my absence will echo
The sound of another walking dead
